Okay guys. Here is round two of last weekend’s photowalk down Royal St in the New Orleans French Quarter. Sorry it took me awhile to finish these. I had a lot of work/homework and not enough time to edit. Word.

On Saturday we took a trip to the French Quarter to add to my Louisiana collection. The goal was to walk down Royal St and take some shots of the many art, furniture and food shops. Thankfully I had plenty cards with me for there was soooo much to shoot! Really the only trouble I ran in to was the transient rays of the sun. Scattered rain clouds kept the streets pretty dim and I had to up the ISO to 400. The images have a little more grain than I prefer but I’ll live. I’m done for the day with editing and now have to hit some homework. I’ve tons of images still to edit and will finish them throughout the week. Keep up!

Today Steph and I are going to walk the French Quarter to get some more shots for the ever continuing Louisiana Project portfolio. I’m thinking about hitting Royal St and taking some photos of the many art/fashion shops that reside there. Hoping the weather cooperates and we bring home the goods. A few more images and I will begin printing and selling and possibly entering the local street markets. Time to get my stuff out there! Luck be upon us!

Yesterday the girls and I decided to go take some photos at Fontainebleau State Park. And let me tell you….it was awesome! The tide was low and you could walk pretty far out on the lake. The mud sand mixture we were walking on had beautiful ripples and the low sun created excellent shadows for a photo’s texture. The wind was blowing however and it was a bit nipply…but watching the sun set on Lake Pontchartrain was incredible! Just watching that bright, red orb set fire to the sky and then slowly sink below the New Orleans Causeway….breathtaking. Now, I haven’t had much opportunity to edit the two cards I shot but did manage to finish these two of the pier during sunset. Both were at different times and thus there is a difference in color. Word up and more to come!

Today while listening to tunes I decided to cruise the net and look for a another photo project to jump in to. Being that classes begin next Wednesday and I’ll prolly have to work on the weekends, my opportunities to travel and shoot will be greatly reduced. So I wanted to find something that I could do locally…inbetween homework and checking ocular pressure. Going through various sites I stumbled across some texture portraits and was much inspired. Don’t get me wrong…I’ve seen texture portraits before and have enjoyed them but I never took the time to edit any of my photos to get that effect. Grabbed a few of my finished shots and some textures off the net and experimented. Didn’t really edit too too much….as you can see above…just wanted to get a feel for the process. And….I thought it was great and really not too hard! So next time I’m running about town with my camera I am for sure going to capture more textures and start hoarding. Something interesting to do while killing time inbetween Espanol and Algebra. Word. Let the newest photo project begin.
